2026 Firefish Registration

Registration Fees

Registration will begin Monday March 2nd at approximately 7pm for returning families. New Family registration will begin March 15th approximately 7pm..

Registration Fees for the 2026 season will be as follows:
$170 for first swimmer, $150 for second swimmer, and $130 for all additional swimmers.

There will be an additional separate $25 WHALe fee added to each swimmer. This covers the insurance and technology fees run by WHALe

Registration fee goes towards: team equipment, technology to run and serve concessions, coaching salaries, team swim cap (1 per swimmer), team incentives like special swim caps and treats, materials for fun events, end of year trophy and end of the season party.

Each swimmer will receive a t-shirt (1 per swimmer- covered thanks to the sponsorship of Matt Freeman)

Parent Meeting

Parent meeting will be held on Sunday March 1, 3:00 @ the Firethorne Competitive Pool. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.

Volunteer Commitment

Part of registration requires a credit card authorization of $250 per family at the time of registration. This will not put a hold on your credit card but will give the team the right to charge you if you do not meet your requirements. This replaces the check that we required in prior years. However, the team would much rather have your time and commitment than your money – the credit card authorization is NOT a buyout option.

Each family will be required to volunteer in order to be eligible for registration the following season. Please see the "Volunteering" section to read about our volunteer policy.

Swim Team Eligibility

A swimmer who is a resident of Firethorne Subdivision must be in good standing with the homeowners association. Non Firethorne residents may also apply if there are any spots available.
When registering for our team, returning families take priority over new families to our team. A returning swimmer is one that swam for our team the entire season previous to this one and that fulfilled all of their volunteer requirements.
A swimmer must be at least 4 years old, but not older than 18 years of age as of May 1. No exceptions will be made. If requested, you may be required to provide proof of your swimmers age.
A swimmer may participate in USA Swimming and WHALe without restriction.
All swimmers must be able to swim at least one length of the competitive swim pool independently to be eligible to remain on our swim team. All new swimmers to the team will be required to demonstrate ability on the first 2 days of practice.
A swimmer must compete in a minimum of 50% (two out of four, or 3 out of 5) of the scheduled inter-league dual meets in order compete in the Meet of Champs and also to be eligible for priority registration the following season.
The Firethorne Firefish swim team reserves the right to cap age groups at a certain number of swimmers for safety reasons.
While swimming for the Firethorne Firefish, swimmers may not practice with or compete for other WHALe teams.
Swim Team is not a Learn to Swim Program. While coaches will teach strokes, dives and turns, swimmers are expected to have a basic knowledge of the strokes and be comfortable remaining in the water independently. If in doubt, it is highly recommended that swim lessons be taken before joining. Stroke requirements are as follows...
- 4-6 Age Group (6 and Under)
  - Freestyle swim must be able to get across length of pool without any assistance or panic. Will be introduced to Backstroke
- 7-8 Age Group
  - Freestyle swim must be able to get across length of pool without any assistance or panic. Should also confidently know Backstroke, will be introduced to Butterfly and Breaststroke.
- 9-10 Age Group
  - Confident Freestyle and Backstroke swim across the length of the pool. Preferred to know at least Butterfly or Breaststroke, will be introduced to Individual Medley for all 4 strokes.
- 11-18 Age Groups
  - Confident Freestyle and Backstroke swim across the length of the pool. Will be expected to swim all 4 strokes, relays, and Individual Medleys.
